Creating Dramatic Impact on Location
W/ Jeff Goldberg
$129

One of the most exciting and challenging aspects of photography is walking into a location for the first time and everyone looks at you and says, “What do you want us to do?”. In this small group, hands-on session we will go through a process to look at a scene, visualize the composition, think about the lighting options and then build the image for maximum dramatic impact. When we have it… we will move to a new location and do it again. In this session, we will explore a location/scene together and then I will demonstrate how I approach the scene experimenting with your input. We will explore balancing ambient light with strobe, creating impact and drama with light and discussing the choices you can make to help you build confidence in your on-location process. Then, all of you will have the chance to create your own image in the same location before we move to another. Given the small group size, I will be able to work more closely with you as you break into smaller groups to work with our models.

All I do is Wind, Wind, Wind, no matter what!
W/ Kiati Plooksawasdi
$199

As we run around Chicago, where we will pair flowing gowns with iconic architecture to build a story in true editorial style. We will start the day with an overview of lighting designs and techniques on how to toss gowns as well as tips on pose direction. This will lay the foundation for the rest of the day where it will be a hands-on shooting experience where I will be available to help answer questions and guide in the direction of your part of the shoot if needed. As the day progresses, conditions and the position of the sun will change. Part of creating epic images will be learning how to adapt to the change in lighting conditions. What we might have initially designed may not be what will be ultimately used to get the effect we want. Learning how to adapt on the fly is key to having a successful shoot and one of the key elements that can be learned in this session. We will be using lights from StellaPro and gowns by Sew Trendy Accessories. There will be a mix of natural light blended in with off camera flash techniques as well as constant light techniques.
